Public Accounts Committee Publishes Legacy Report

May 05, 2022

The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has published its legacy report outlining the work it has completed during the current Assembly (between 2018 and 2022). The report suggests key areas of focus for the new Committee, including Performance Management, Health and Community Services, Information Technology Programmes, and Capital and Major Projects.

The report focuses in particular on the period since November 2020, when Deputy Inna Gardiner was appointed as the new Chair following the resignation of Senator Sarah Ferguson. The Committee will shortly end its work ahead of the 22 June election.

Chair of the Public Accounts Committee, Deputy Inna Gardiner, said: “Whilst a significant number of changes have occurred over this term of office, the Committee has kept on track and produced high quality output. The size of the public sector has expanded greatly since 2018, which makes it all the more important that we hold the Government to account and ensure that it is demonstrating value for money for Islanders. The Committee has achieved a number of successes as this term comes to an end, and we hope that our legacy report will help to demonstrate how our work differs from that of Scrutiny, both for the benefit of the public and for future Members. In addition, we particularly welcome the Government’s target to implement 80% of the Comptroller and Auditor General’s and the PAC’s recommendations by the end of the year.”
