Parish of St John Launches Commemorative publication to Mark Liberation 80
As part of its programme of events to mark the 80th anniversary of Jersey’s Liberation, the Parish of St John is proud to announce the launch of a special 72-page Liberation 80 commemorative publication.
The publication which celebrates stories of community spirit, historical reflection and remembrance, will be delivered by local volunteers to around 1,200 homes across the parish in the run-up to Liberation Day.Each primary aged school child will also receive a copy of the publication. Copies of the publication will also be available to purchase at the Parish Hall during the St John Liberation exhibition that runs from 3rd to 11th May.
Packed with photos, features and interviews with parishioners, the publication offers a unique insight into how St John is honouring this important milestone in Jersey’s history.
The publication will be officially launched on Friday 25th April.
Members of the media are warmly invited to attend the launch, to meet the editor Sarah Grigson and learn more about the St John celebrations from the Connetable. If you would like to arrange interviews on the day, please contact the Parish Hall to coordinate logistics.
Parish Constable Andy Jehan said:“This publication is a true community effort – from the stories shared, to the volunteers delivering it. It’s an invitation to every home in St John to join us in remembering, celebrating and coming together. Free copies will be distributed to each Parish home due to the generous sponsorship we have received for our Liberation 80 Projects”
The commemorative publication is just one part of St John’s wider Liberation 80 programme, supported by a dedicated committee and a growing number of volunteers.
