Cherry Godfrey Launches “Shop Local This Christmas” Campaign to Support High Street Retailers Across the Channel Islands
Cherry Godfrey has today announced the launch of its Shop Local Christmas Campaign, a community-focused initiative designed to boost festive spending with independent high street retailers across Guernsey and Jersey at a time when high streets across the islands face increasing pressure from online shopping and rising operational costs.
Local retail closures have continued to make headlines in recent years, with both islands experiencing the same challenges seen across the UK: more shoppers turning to online platforms and fewer visiting traditional town centres. Cherry Godfrey’s campaign aims to highlight this trend and encouraging islanders to support their local shops while also giving retailers more tools to compete.
Championing Local Retailers & Strengthening Island Communities As a business deeply rooted in the islands for more than 32 years, Cherry Godfrey is committed to supporting the local economy and preserving the unique character of Guernsey and Jersey’s high streets.
“Our high streets are the heart of our communities,” said Tanzy Cherry COO at Cherry Godfrey. “This campaign is about celebrating the brilliant independent retailers we are lucky to have, encouraging islanders to shop local, and giving businesses meaningful support during the busiest and often most challenging time of year.”
The campaign reinforces Cherry Godfrey’s ongoing commitment to community values, helping to protect local livelihoods, support island jobs, and keep town centres thriving.
Helping Customers Shop Local With Confidence As part of the campaign, Cherry Godfrey has offered participating retailers the opportunity to utilise its new Pay in 3 interest-free option, as an addition to its existing flexible finance plans. This initiative offers meaningful support to local retailers to enable them to compete with online retailers, and customers the option to pay in 3 instalments at no cost to them. These flexible
options often lead to increased accessibility for seasonal purchases and stronger festive trading for independent shops. From jewellers and clothing boutiques to tech stores, art retailers and wellness businesses, the campaign is designed to support the broad range of local shops that make the islands’ high streets vibrant and unique.
Calling All Retailers: Get Involved Cherry Godfrey is inviting retailers who already offer finance through the business as well as those who don’t yet but would like to join the campaign to get in touch by calling the team on 711666 or dropping an email to marketing@cherrygodfrey.com for more information.
Bringing Festive Energy Back to the High Street To maximise reach, the Buy Local Christmas Campaign will include a calendar of social media activity, retailer highlights, localised promotional content, and potential partnerships with community groups, influencers, and festive island events.
“When you buy local, you’re not just getting a gift you’re supporting the families, staff and businesses that make island life special,” added Tanzy Cherry “We’re proud to play our part in keeping our high streets strong.”
The Cherry Godfrey Shop Local Campaign will run from 1st to 31st December 2025. For participating retailer please check out @cherrygodfrey on socials.
