Charity Ambassadors Generate Major Giving for Brighter Futures

A group of close friends are celebrating after raising more than £100,000 for Jersey charity Brighter Futures at its most recent event; an exclusive lunch for over 90 guests.

Georgie Roberts, Louise Kenyon, Katriona Hollywood, Nina Mackie and Lucy Shuttleworth joined forces five years ago in aid of Brighter Futures, after being appointed as Ambassadors for the charity. Genevieve Brunwin joined the group last year.

Since then, the Ambassadors have hosted an annual ‘Ladies Lunch’ at Georgie’s home, Gouray Lodge, where hundreds of guests have enjoyed an exceptional afternoon of dining, entertainment, and high-profile guest speakers. Attendees this year included the charity’s Patron, Dr. Karen Kyd, and Lady Le Cocq, wife of Brighter Futures Patron, Sir Timothy Le Cocq.

The most recent lunch, showcasing the “Best of Jersey” to benefit Brighter Futures, was generously sponsored by the internationally renowned gallery’ Gladwell and Patterson, who have supported the event for three years. Attendees also had the opportunity to view and purchase a range of exceptional paintings and sculptures, which were brought over specially for the lunch by the art gallery.

Held on 7th November, the event also featured a moving conversation between Aurelie Boas and host Becky Gimenez, and evocative vocal performances from soprano Nicki Kennedy, accompanied by the talented pianist, Edward Picton-Turbervill.

Ticket sales, a raffle and a live auction (including prizes and lots donated by Gladwell & Patterson, Hand Picked Hotels, and Hettich), raised the much-needed funds, with guests bidding for two nights at Gleneagles, and an exclusive evening with the Tassili restaurant sommelier (donated by Handpicked Hotels).  Attendees were also able to buy bracelets that were donated for the occasion. The lunches have now raised more than £450,000, with this year’s proceeds supporting many more families.  Funds raised at the event will enable Brighter Futures to implement vital initiatives with the 150 families per week that it supports, including the ongoing provision of keyworker support, access to free of charge programmes and the running costs of our new provision at Communicare.”

Fiona Brennan, CEO of Brighter Futures, said:  “We are incredibly fortunate to have the support of this amazing group of women; close friends who continually advocate for us and who raise an astounding amount of money, even in difficult times, for the charity.  We support an ever-growing number of families, and the support shown by these ladies is, quite simply, invaluable.  We remain hugely grateful for their time, energy, and compassion towards Brighter Futures.”

Georgie Roberts said: “As a group of great friends and Ambassadors for Brighter Futures, we love creating this unique event for a charity that is very close to our hearts. We are so proud of the amount we have raised directly to help more families in Jersey, and this is thanks to the generosity of our guests and supporters.  We’re already looking forward to next year’s lunch on 6th November 2025!”
