Celebrating Aurigny’s official inaugural flight from Guernsey to Jersey

Over the last four days, Aurigny has mobilised its resources and people to answer the call to support air connectivity across the Channel Islands. Aurigny is proudly returning on a permanent basis to the Guernsey-Jersey route, one which the airline serviced previously for almost five decades.
On Monday 17th November, the airline’s official inaugural flight, GR304, departed from Guernsey on schedule just before 1510 and arrived in Jersey seven minutes ahead of schedule at 1523.
During the flight, Philip Saunders, Chief Commercial Officer at Aurigny, welcomed customers on the service and reinforced the airline’s long-term commitment to serve this vital lifeline route for all Channel Islanders.
Aurigny’s actual first flight between Guernsey and Jersey took place on Saturday 15th November - less than 24 hours after Blue Islands entering administration and without the benefit of having received prior notice.
Philip Saunders, Chief Commercial Officer at Aurigny, stated: “We are delighted to be back on the Guernsey-Jersey route.
“Aurigny’s DNA is of the islands and for the islands. That’s why we responded to the call for support immediately. For some it’s a new route. For us, it’s in our roots.”
Prices start from GBP68.99 one-way and all fares on this route include a 23kg hold luggage and no date change fees, as standard.
The initial schedule offers two daily services between Guernsey and Jersey every day, except on Fridays and Sundays, when Aurigny is currently operating a daily service.
Philip continued: “Our schedules provide the best timings on the market to meet customer needs - with early morning and afternoon departure times. The schedule enables productive day trips as well as longer stays that maximise our customers’ time at their chosen destination.
“We have taken a considered approach to ensure we have the right schedule with the right resilience. In coming days, we shall announce additional services and our ambition is to quickly become the airline of choice on the route.”
Aurigny originally launched services on the Guernsey-Jersey route in 1968, operating the famous Britten-Norman Islander aircraft and carried 45,000 passengers between Guernsey, Jersey, and Alderney. In fact, the airline has served the route longer than any other airline.
All services are open for sale through the Aurigny App, which can be downloaded from the Apple AppStore and Google Play, as well as through the website, or alternatively the contact centre.
