Battle of Flowers Returns to its Iconic Home with Day and Night Parades, Community Celebration, and Fireworks Finale

SUBJECT TO BAILIFF’S PERMISSION Battle of Flowers Returns to its Iconic Home with Day and Night Parades, Community Celebration, and Fireworks Finale The Battle of Flowers is set to return in spectacular fashion this August, bringing colour, creativity, and community spirit back to its iconic home in Jersey.
This year’s event will feature both a Day Parade and a Night Parade, each designed to showcase the incredible work of volunteers, community groups, and float builders who have dedicated months to preparing this much-loved island tradition.
The Day Parade will take place on Friday 14th August, starting at 15:00, with gates opening shortly after 12:00 once road closures are in place. The Night Parade will follow on Saturday 15th August, starting at 20:45, with gates opening shortly after 18:30, again following road closures. For the Night Parade, the floats are transformed into wonderful, illuminated floats, adding an additional element to the spectacular visual experience and creating a truly magical evening display.
Both events will be free to enter, however organisers are encouraging the public to support the festival where possible. Donations can be made via the official website at battle.je/donate, or during the parades using Sum-up machines which will be at various points around the arena and QR codes displayed on hi-vis tabards worn by marshals and parade coordinators.
Following the successful trial in town last year, both parades will operate as a one-pass parade format. On the Day Parade, floats will travel in an easterly direction from Rue de Galet to Lower Park, while the Night Parade will travel in a westerly direction from Lower Park and end at La Rue de Galet.
Spectators are warmly invited to bring their own small chairs/picnic blankets and make full use of the arena viewing areas. There will be ample space for everyone to enjoy the event. The parade will utilise both westbound lanes of Victoria Avenue on the south side (the two lanes closest to the sea). The public may position themselves anywhere along the route on pavements and lay-bys on the south side near the sea, as well as on the central reservation and north-side eastbound road areas, disabled areas will be available and the public are kindly asked to respect those individuals who my need more space to view than normal. Marshals will be present throughout the arena to provide guidance and ensure safety.
As the parade is a one-pass format, it will take approximately two hours for all floats to complete the route. Organisers are encouraging spectators to arrive early and enjoy the full experience, with pre-parade entertainment and food and drink concessions available throughout the day.
A fireworks finale will take place following the conclusion of the Night Parade, once all floats have completed the route, providing a celebratory end to the weekend’s events.
Martyn Maguire, Chairperson of the Battle of Flowers Association, said: “We are incredibly grateful to the community, volunteers, and sponsors who continue to support the Battle of Flowers. The creativity and dedication behind every float is truly inspiring, and we are proud to see the parade return to its iconic home. This event belongs to the island, and we need everyone’s support to keep the magic of the Battle alive for future generations.”
Fund raising:
We have been working very hard throughout the year and following an extensive fundraising campaign, we have been successful in raising grants and commercial sponsorship for the vast majority of the expenses needed for the parades, however we are still trying to close the last gap in our funding shortfall which will allow us to employ an even greater variety of entertainment and a super firework finale.
Organisers emphasise that continued commercial and public support are essential to ensure the long-term future of the event, encouraging businesses, residents and visitors alike to contribute in any way they can at battle.je/donate to help keep Battle alive and free for years to come.
