Second Pan-Island Skills Competition Brought Together Apprentices from Jersey, IoM, and Guernsey

Apprentices from Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man competed in the second Pan-Island Skills Competition. Showcasing the skills and talents of young individuals who are studying for vocational qualifications, they were competing in six areas: carpentry; electrical; plumbing; welding and fabrication; trowel trades; and painting and decorating.

Jersey Chamber Co-Vice President Lee Madden, who meet with Guernsey Chamber colleagues, said: “It’s amazing to see so much talent being showcased here and I’m pleased that 10 apprentices from Highlands College are here representing Jersey. The standard of work is incredibly high and shows that these young people have promising futures ahead of them when they start work.”

Apprentices competed in timed challenges designed to test their skills in their chosen trades. Industry professionals judged their expertise and problem-solving abilities. The event culminated in an awards ceremony recognizing the top two performers in each category, celebrating the dedication and talent of these young individuals pursuing vocational education across the three islands.
