Newly appointed Jersey Sport Chairman to Lead Board of Directors
Jersey Sport are delighted to welcome Andew Whelan, Chartered FCISI, as their new Chairman to lead the Jersey Sport Board of Directors, managing its overall performance, reporting and governance.
Following a rigorous recruitment process, the panel were unanimous in selecting Andrew for the position as independent Non-Executive Director (NED) to lead the Jersey Sport Board as Chair.The role is voluntary and non-remunerated, with Andrew currently holding the position of Executive Director at Tenn Capital (Jersey) Ltd. He brings with him an impressive track record of success within B2B, B2C, financial, asset management, wealth, FinTech, SMEs, AIM-listed and corporate market sectors, withinternational experiencehaving sat on the boards of businesses in the UK, USA, Ireland, Dubai, Africa, France, Spain, Cayman Islands, Bermuda, Isle of Man, Gibraltar, Guernsey and Jersey.
A keen sportsman, Andrew has represented Jersey at Basketball, besides Jersey and Hampshire County at Rugby.He enjoys shooting, snowboarding and scuba diving, and is also a qualified CrossFit coach. Upon becoming the new Chairman of Jersey Sport Andrew said: "I am delighted to join Jersey Sport at an exciting time in its evolution. Having played sport within and for the Island over the past four decades it is wonderful to be able to contribute to the continued development and growth of Island sport. I am excited to work with David and his team, plus my fellow Board members, in providing an inclusive opportunity for all sporting activity within the Island.”
Jersey Sport is a registered charity, and arms-length organisation supported by the Government of Jersey, with the aim to make sport and physical activity more accessible for everyone in the island.Jersey’s Lieutenant-Governor, His Excellency Vice Admiral Jerry Kyd CBE,is Patron.
