Jersey Fire and Rescue Service has launched its latest recruitment campaign, to attract on-call firefighters to the team.

The service is seeking enthusiastic and skilled individuals, from all walks of life and backgrounds to fill the on-call roles.

The challenging role of a firefighter means the service is looking for people who work well in a team; people with a positive, professional approach; and people who recognise the value of rules and procedures but are also innovative and can challenge appropriately.

How many businesses can point to something to show they REALLY are at the heart of the community? On-call firefighters get world-class training in health and safety and medical response as well as developing situational awareness, leadership skills and the ability to work in high pressure situations.

To encourage prospective candidates to explore these roles, the service is organising three practical taster sessions. The sessions will give a flavour of what it's like to be a firefighter, offering an interactive experience that showcases the physical and mental demands of the role.

Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in simulated firefighting exercises, learn about the various aspects of the job, and engage with experienced firefighters and the recruitment team. These will be held on:

All welcome taster session:

  • Date: Saturday 16 November
  • Time: 11am-3pm
  • Location: Jersey Fire & Rescue HQ, Rouge Bouillon, St Helier.

Female only taster session:

  • Date: Saturday 23 November
  • Time: 11am-3pm
  • Location: Jersey Fire & Rescue HQ, Rouge Bouillon, St Helier.
