Loganair increases its route network from Jersey with a new direct service

Feb 02, 2021

Regional airline, Loganair has today announced the launch of another route to its expanding Jersey network, bringing the total number of its direct routes operating this summer to five.

The Scottish-based airline plans to operate a new direct summer service between Jersey and Newcastle, operating up to three times a week. The new service will start on 28 May, operating on Fridays and Sundays. It will then introduce an additional flight on a Tuesday as from 06 July and will run until 26 October 2021. The airline will operate a 49-seat Embraer 145 regional jet with fares starting from just £75.99 one way, including 15kg free luggage allowance and reservations are now on sale online at loganair.co.uk

Welcoming the announcement, CEO for Ports of Jersey, Matt Thomas, says, “We are delighted to announce another step forward in our partnership with Loganair, with the launch of this service to Newcastle. Despite these challenging times, the demand for Jersey as a holiday destination remains strong among visitors, whilst it also enables residents the opportunity of visiting much missed family and friends in the UK. We are working hard to ensure that when the day comes that travel restrictions are lifted, Jersey will be well-placed to reap the benefits that connectivity brings to our tourism and hospitality sector.”

Kay Ryan, Loganair’s Chief Commercial Officer, said: “We are very excited by the potential of this new route, and believe it will prove extremely popular as it is increasingly likely that British holidaymakers’ options will be unfortunately severely limited this year. This addition to next summer’s schedule shows Loganair’s continued commitment to providing domestic connectivity for both leisure and business customers, despite the severe damage being caused to the aviation industry by the Covid-19 pandemic.”

Loganair recently announced the restart of a direct air service between Jersey and the Isle of Man this summer alongside its other direct routes to Norwich, Teesside and Edinburgh.
