The Jersey Chamber of Commerce will hold the island’s first Retail Summit on Friday 22nd March
2019, bringing together local retailers, Government of Jersey and leaders of British retail in one
room, to better understand the future trends of retail and discuss how both Government and
retailers can work together to secure that future in Jersey.
The event at the Pomme d’Or Hotel will begin at 08:30 and run until lunchtime, with keynote
addresses from the Chief Executive of the British Retail Consortium, Helen Dickinson and the Chief
Executive of JD Sports Peter Cowgill. The Minister for Economic Development, Tourism, Sport and
Culture, Senator Lyndon Farnham will also speak, the week before the Jersey Retail Strategy is due
to be released at the end of March.
Chamber President, Eliot Lincoln is delighted that the Jersey Chamber of Commerce is hosting the
summit: “This is a superb opportunity for island retailers and all interested parties to come together,
to learn about the long-awaited Government Retail Strategy and give feedback to the Minister. We
are also hearing from two of the most influential people in British retail, Helen Dickinson OBE, Chief
Executive of the British Retail Consortium and Peter Cowgill, Executive Chairman of JD Sports. The
retail knowledge and track record of success from these two leading retailers, will be invaluable to all
who attend. The Chamber of Commerce has been representing retailers for two hundred and fifty
one years, and our mission is to bring all relevant parties together to discuss and meet the challenges
of the current retail climate for the benefit of Jersey”.
