Social Security Contributions to Return to 6%

Jun 25, 2021

Islanders are being reminded that their Social Security contributions will return to the pre-pandemic 6% in July.

Contributions were temporarily reduced to 4% in July last year, as part of the Government’s £150 million Fiscal Stimulus package to boost the economy.

The 2% cut in rates applied from 1 October 2020 and will run until the end of this month.

Minister for Social Security, Deputy Judy Martin, said: “The reduction in contributions has enabled Islanders to have that little extra each month to spend in the local economy and this has meant businesses and services in Jersey have been greatly supported by everyone.

“However, as we look towards the future and continue our exit strategy out of the COVID-19 pandemic, the economy has been reconnected and it is time to continue on the path back to normality.”
