Parking Charge Increases 2020

Feb 24, 2020

The annual increase in car parking charges will take effect on Monday 2 March, when the cost will rise by 2p per unit, from 85p to 87p per unit.

The Minister for Infrastructure, Deputy Kevin Lewis, has approved the 2.4% increase, which has been set following September’s 2.5% retail price index. Eco-friendly parking permits (which are lower rates for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles) will also rise by 2.4%.

Income from car parking charges is used to maintain, refurbish, and improve car parks, and to pay for its running costs.

Deputy Lewis said: “This is a standard annual increase which enable us to continue to meet our costs, and to maintain our car parks and adapt them to improve the experience for users and to support the Sustainable Transport Policy and road safety initiatives.”
