Global Tax Leadership Role for Jersey

Sep 23, 2021

A Jersey official is playing a leading role in an international working group tasked with helping governments around the world improve tax transparency.

Tom Le Feuvre, who is Director of Global Relations and International Agreements for the Government of Jersey, has been elected as Co-Chair, alongside a government representative from India, for a group set up by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

The group, the Ad Hoc Group on Country-by-Country Reporting (CbCR), aims to improve the way jurisdictions report on tax activity. The group’s Vice-Chairs are from the US, Switzerland and Poland. It is the first time Jersey has held the top role in an OECD working group, although Island representatives have held Vice-Chair positions. The late Colin Powell, CBE, was Vice-Chair for the OECD’s Peer Review Group for Exchange of Information on Request, and Niamh Moylan, Jersey’s Assistant Comptroller of Revenue, currently serves as Vice-Chair of the OECD’s Automatic Exchange of Information Peer Review Group.

Tom said of his role: “The group is responsible for ensuring that large multinational corporations complete a report on the global allocation of income, profit, taxes paid and economic activity. Jersey’s position in the group is a good example of the Island’s commitment not just to implementing new tax rules, but also to playing an active part in their design and development.”

Achim Pross, Head of the OECD’s International Co-operation and Tax Administration Division, said: “We’re very grateful to Tom for making this commitment to this important work. We look forward to working with him more in his Co-Chair role.”

The Minister for External Relations, Senator Ian Gorst, said: “Jersey’s appointment, alongside India, as Co-Chair to this working group is an example of how the Island is viewed as a jurisdiction committed to tax transparency and is a recognition of Jersey’s longstanding role in the development of new global standards.
