Digital Tourism Think Tank Campus Arrives in #theislandbreak

Sep 19, 2018

Visit Jersey and Events Jersey are delighted to welcome the Digital Tourism Think Tank Campus to Jersey on 20-21 September 2018.

The Digital Tourism Think Tank provides leadership to the tourism industry in digital marketing best practice.

Powered by JT’s full-fibre network, the event which will take place at The Lido, will welcome over 120 tourism marketing delegates from across the globe to explore, create, learn and apply the latest marketing trends. Every workshop has been individually crafted, led by creative ambassadors.

From discovering Jersey’s oyster beds to foraging on Jersey’s coastline, exploring the Ecrehous Islands by RIB, capturing Jersey’s surf story, to abseiling down Mont Orgueil delegates will discover the island break, and then share their experiences using the latest digital marketing techniques.

The event will welcome prestigious speakers from the world’s leading tourism destinations, coming to see the work undertaken in Jersey and coming to share their own approaches. These include Visit California, Cape Town Tourism, Singapore Tourism Board, as well as Paris Tourism, Visit Oslo and Switzerland Tourism.

Nicholas Hall, Managing Director of Digital Tourism Think Tank, commented:

“Here at the Digital Tourism Think Tank, we’re very selective in choosing our host destinations for Campus, now in its third year after successfully launching on the Faroe Islands in 2012. We seek a destination which can be used as a canvas to test and experiment with new ideas, explore current and future content trends to their full potential and create an inspiring backdrop which works as a catalyst for creativity out of the office, with world-class connectivity.

Campus is unlike any other event, which is both a challenge and an opportunity. On the one hand, the format requires a space where international keynote speakers can set the scene, whilst on the other, it requires a completely bespoke approach to looking at the content and product opportunities which lie just beneath the surface, upon which workshops are designed.”

Over the 2-day programme, the event will explore the destination experience with keynotes led by hand-picked industry experts. Delegates will get hands-on for content, product, experience and strategy workshops led by the brightest talent. We are delighted to invite a global community of digital tourism and content leaders to discover why Jersey’s tourism is undergoing an exciting transformation right now and developing ideas, prototypes and techniques on how to champion that.”

Keith Beecham, CEO, Visit Jersey, added:

"I am delighted that DTTT have agreed to bring their prestigious event to Jersey in September. I know our island will provide a great location for destination experts, from around the world, to meet and exchange ideas and share Jersey’s stories through inspirational content. Our product partners have worked hard to give delegates a warm welcome and help them discover the unique experiences available in the island break."

Tamara O’Brien, Head of Customer Experience at JT, said:

“We’re excited to see events like the Digital Tourism Think Tank Campus coming to Jersey and appreciate something like this needs a hyperfast network to support it. Which is why we’re delighted to be the official Technology Partner for this event. Like many travellers, I know that fast reliable Wi-Fi and broadband is always high on my wish list when selecting a holiday or business location. In fact, a recent Forbes survey suggested most travellers log onto the Wi-Fi within just 7 minutes of reaching their hotel and over 50% quoting it as tone of the most important factors in choosing both a hotel, and a destination. This hopefully makes Jersey with its full-fibre network and fast reliable connectivity, the ideal backdrop for Visit Jersey’s event and supports the contribution made by the tourism sector to our island’s economy and community. It’s the ideal occasion to showcase the power and potential of Jersey’s full-fibre network to these hospitality ambassadors from around the world.”
