The JFSC continues to take active steps to make sure it has a work environment free of discrimination where all employees are given equal opportunities to thrive and are proud to reinforce this commitment by signing up to the IoD D&I Charter.
Jill Britton, Interim Director General, said: “We are committed to supporting our employees and recognise the value of a diverse workforce, as well as the importance of making sure each and every person feels included. We hope to reinforce this commitment by joining the IoD D&I Charter which will aid us in our efforts to make staff feel supported whilst at work.”
Lisa Springate, Chair of IoD Jersey added: “The purpose of the IoD D&I Charter is to encourage an active culture of diversity with IoD Jersey members, their organisations and across the Island. We are delighted to see the JFSC adopting this through their own initiatives as well as by signing up to our Charter. We look forward to seeing how they continue to embrace diversity within their organisation.”
The JFSC has already made impressive progress in terms of gender diversity, reaching a gender balance on its Board of Commissioners and recently announcing Jill Britton as Interim Director General. This is the first time in the organisation’s history that this role has been undertaken by a female.
The regulator is also part of the Government of Jersey’s Back to Work scheme which helps local Job seekers get employment and Advance Plus which offers those who are unemployed training and work placements to aid them integrate into the workforce.
The JFSC hosts an annual designated D&I month every September when employees take part in activities such as talks from local D&I representatives and are provided with resources about how to make the workplace more inclusive.
