Events and Marketing Manager Role

Job Purpose

The Events and Marketing Manager will be responsible for developing and delivering the extensive Chamber events programme and producing and expanding on the organisation’s marketing strategy.

This will involve contributing to individual projects as directed by the CEO and Chamber Executive and supporting the Office Administrator in rapid and accurate responses to member enquiries and contributing to the overall membership care. There will also be a need to provide relevant event and marketing information for board & committee meetings.


Help develop our calendar of events from proposal right up to delivery, including:

  • Set, communicate and maintain project timelines and priorities
  • Liaise with external suppliers including venues, caterers, speakers and sponsors
  • Organise all appropriate sponsorship and co-branding of external events
  • Work with third party designers to develop promotional materials where necessary
  • Market the events effectively using email marketing, database management, website, editorial and social media
  • Maintaining and updating website content for all events
  • Manage invitations, sign up, guest list and coordinate room layouts
  • Deliver events on time and within budget
  • Ensure excellent membership service and quality delivery during all event organisation and management
  • On-the-day management of events


  • Responsible for the delivery and evolution of the Chamber marketing strategy and work with the CEO to implement further developments when necessary
  • Promote the Chamber, policies and core values
  • Help promote and expand the Chamber membership, as well as educate members on ongoing benefits and external member events
  • Manage and deliver the monthly Chamber editorial pages within a local business publication
  • Coordinate market research where necessary to identify interest and uptake for current and future membership services, as well as to support wider initiatives that Chamber is involved with
  • Deliver all marketing activity within the agreed budget/timeline
  • Work with the wider Chamber of Commerce team to actively identify newsworthy activity and achieve frequent, timely and positive media coverage of Chamber
  • Develop network of appropriate contacts within the media and provide relevant news on behalf of Chamber and help maintain positive and active relationships with the local media
  • Help drive growth in membership and membership engagement

Qualifications and experience

  • Professional qualifications related to marketing, communications or event management
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in either events management or marketing
  • Experience of developing and managing external partnerships in the delivery of projects
  • Demonstrable experience of running events from conception to completion
  • Experienced copywriting skills
  • Familiarity with using membership databases
  • Experience of developing marketing strategies and identifying new areas of growth, income and exposure.

  • A self-starter, with a flexible approach, who can be a team player
  • Well-developed planning, risk and issue management and delivery skills
  • Ability to engage and build effective relationships with stakeholders and committees quickly
  • Competent in Microsoft Power Point, Excel and Word.
