A Word from Our CEO, Murray Norton, Juky 2025

For anyone moving relocating offices, the excitement is usually offset with the dread of the logistics involved. But I think we have every right to be leaning heavily into the excited part of the dial for some time yet.

We’re delighted to announce that later this year, the Jersey Chamber of Commerce will be returning to its original home of a couple of centuries, in the heart of St. Helier’s Royal Square after 24 years away.

This move marks an important and symbolic moment in our long history. As the oldest Chamber of Commerce in the British Isles, established in 1768, our roots in the Royal Square run deep. Returning to this historic and iconic location is not just a relocation, it’s a homecoming. It reaffirms our central role in Jersey’s business landscape and places us, once again, at the heart of the island’s civic and commercial life.

The Royal Square has always been a hub for dialogue, decision-making, and connection. It’s the seat of our government and a place that has witnessed centuries of economic and political evolution. By re-establishing our base here, we’re strengthening our ability to connect with government, legislators, and fellow organisations, reinforcing our role as the voice of Jersey’s business community.

Our offices in the Royal Square will honour the heritage of the area while providing a modern, professional space where members can come together, engage in meaningful dialogue, and shape the future of business in Jersey. From policy briefings and sector forums to networking events and collaborative meetings, our new base will be a vibrant centre of activity.

This move also reflects our commitment to continuity and progress. The Chamber has always evolved alongside the island’s economy, supporting members across sectors, from agriculture and retail to finance, digital, hospitality and construction. As we return to our original home, we do so with a forward-looking mindset and a renewed focus on supporting businesses through the challenges and opportunities ahead.

We’re excited to begin this new chapter in a place so closely tied to our origins. It’s a timely reminder that while much has changed since our founding in 1768, our purpose remains the same: to be a strong, credible, and independent voice for business in Jersey.

We look forward to welcoming you to our new (and old) home in the Royal Square later this year.

Stay tuned for more details, we’ll be sharing updates as we get closer to moving day!
